Stephen Baker has over 10 years of litigation experience, primarily in complex litigation. He is an experienced civil defense attorney specializing in multi-party, multi-jurisdiction, multi-million-dollar cases. He has experience in litigation pertaining to contractual disputes, professional negligence, insurance law, product liability, and professional malpractice.
Stephen primarily focuses his practice on litigation, breach of contract and the investigation of a failure to perform, and loss recovery. He also has experience representing insurance carriers involved in multijurisdictional disputes.
Stephen is a proud graduate of Baylor Law School in 2008, where he was a member of the school’s competitive National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Mock Trial Team. Before joining the firm in 2019, he practiced in Dallas, with a focus on commercial and insurance litigation.
When he is not working, Stephen enjoys trying to read while his children do everything in their power to prevent a quiet moment, enjoying live music, and hanging out in the backyard with his family.
Jeoffrey L. Burtch, Chapter 7 Trustee for the Bankruptcy Estates of ATI Enterprises, Inc. v. Ace American Insurance Company, 95th District Court of Dallas County, Texas; Cause No. DC-16-00680 (2016). Recovery of millions of dollars in over-billing in attorney’s fees in litigation prior to bankruptcy. Aided in recovery for the Trustee by investigation of billing statements and contracts in underlying litigation.

Orthoflex, Inc. v. ThermoTek, Inc., 2014 WL 320155 (N.D. Tex. 2014). Contract dispute between parties; worked with litigation team to receive order of gross negligence on the part of Orthoflex with regards to discovery abuse and the imposition of sanctions.

PHI, Inc. v. Apical Indus., Inc., 2014 WL 1820717(W.D. La. 2014). Engine failure caused emergency landing and lawsuit regarding improperly designed and manufactured skid-mounted floats; member of litigation team which forced settlement from engine manufacturer due to the failure of the ball bearings.

Yelton v. PHI Inc., 2012 WL 2838421 (E.D. La. 2012). Multi-party litigation regarding bird strike causing helicopter accident with multiple fatalities; worked with litigation team to demonstrate liability on behalf of Sikorsky, the aircraft manufacturer, for its manufacturer defect.

Neil L. Fisher, d/b/a Paragon Anesthesia Assoc., PA v. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Inc., 2011 WL 11703781 (N.D. Tex. 2011). Contract dispute between medical provider and insurer, denying claims for unique procedure; participated on litigation team to get court order regarding improper denial of claims to force settlement.

L-3 Communications Integrated Systems LP v. Lockheed Martin Corporation, 2010 WL 1891779 (N.D. Ga. 2010). Part of litigation team which discovered withheld documents in the course of large discovery, constituting discovery abuse on the part of Lockheed, and resulting in reversal of multi-million-dollar verdict in antitrust action and success in related action in Texas federal court.
